India’s First Movie on Menopause, Jalebi Rocks, changes the landscape of Gujarati Cinema

Mumbai, July 1st, 2025 — Jalebi Rocks, a groundbreaking Gujarati film by CCHINMAY P PUROHIT and ANB Entertainers, released in theatres on June 27, marking a bold new chapter in Indian cinema. The film is India’s first cinematic take on menopause, a subject long ignored and misunderstood.

Jalebi Rocks is a Gujarati family film that thoughtfully addresses the topic of menopause. It follows the journey of Vidya Pathak, a 48-year-old housewife, and beautifully celebrates resilience, self-worth, and the indomitable spirit of a woman. A heartwarming story of late blooming and personal achievement, the film is a reminder that it’s never too late to chase your dreams.

Writer-director Chinmay Purohit says, “This is India’s first movie about menopause — a topic that’s often ignored and not well understood. It explores something new in a way that people of all ages can relate to. The audience response after the release has been amazing, and because of that, we’ve increased the number of screens across India.”

Vandana Pathak adds, “Shooting this film was a deeply personal journey for me. There were many moments where I drew from my own experiences, which made the character feel real and raw. I’m proud to be part of a story that reflects a reality so many women go through in life — yet one that has rarely been explored on screen”.

With a stellar ensemble including Manav Gohil, Deepak Gheewala, Manasi Rachh, and more, Jalebi Rocks is more than a film—it’s a conversation starter, a family experience, and a tribute to women rediscovering themselves.

The movie is produced by Binita Dharmesh Shah and the Shah family, the film was inspired from a shared vision of Producers and Director to tell impactful, culturally rooted stories.
